24k Film In-The-Making

Wow. It feels great to finally be finished.

I feel so light it’s like my feet don’t touch the earth. Haha. So just as the filmmaking makes a touchdown, here I am floating in mid-air.

It’s funny, up to the last minute, there still were some problems plaguing me. But I guess I was so beat up by the process that it was hardly an issue.

Ganun pala no. When you’re so used to facing problems, you tend to just take them in stride. A, may prublema ba? Okey. Solution… No more hype. No more freaking out.

As Nietzsche said, what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.

Making my first film for Cinemalaya has been an incredible experience. I feel like I’m five years older because of it.

I sometimes watch 24k and feel so proud of what I’ve done. But other times when I’m all alone and I watch the film, I feel that I could’ve done so much better. If I only had more time.

This is as far as I can go for now. The festival starts this week. It’s time to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

I can’t say thank you enough to my team who gave so much for 24k. I know I pushed you hard guys. I just hope when you watch the film, you’ll feel proud of what you’ve done.

My deepest gratitude also goes to my co-producer, Gov. DV Savellano, the governor of Ilocos Sur. He believed enough in me to support the film in a major way. Not once did he ever intervene in the creative process.

Gov. Savellano has such a progressive vision that he understands the value of promoting and preserving culture and heritage through the arts. The province is lucky to have him as governor.

Gov, I hope I did justice to your beautiful province.
